Santa Barbara estate used by Julia Child valued at $22 million

The historic Four Oaks estate in Santa Barbara’s Hope Ranch neighborhood, valued at $22 million, is noted for its association with culinary icon Julia Child. During the 1980s, Child used the nearly three-acre property as the filming location for her television series, ‘Dinner at Julia’s’.

Designed in 1934 by architects Edwards and Plunkett, the estate has been home to several notable figures, including actor and vintner Fess Parker and Sambo’s founder Samuel Battistone. While Child never owned the property, the estate remains a significant landmark linked to her television career. The residence features updated kitchen facilities, including a professional range and butler’s pantry.
