Santa Barbara receives $70 million in state funding for local projects
Santa Barbara and its surrounding county agencies and nonprofits are set to receive over $70 million in state funding following the approval of Assembly Bill 113. This budget bill provides $1.3 billion in bonus funds for various local projects across California.
Specific allocations for the Santa Barbara region include $5 million for restorations to Pershing Park and $6 million for the purchase and renovation of the La Casa de la Raza building. Additionally, Allan Hancock College has been earmarked $29.2 million for gym renovations, specifically targeting the Building N project.
In a separate initiative, the City of Santa Barbara has launched a community survey and a series of workshops to inform its Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The survey, available in English and Spanish, aims to identify priorities for the city’s parks, open spaces, and recreation facilities. Residents can participate via an online survey or through several in-person and virtual workshops scheduled through late October.
