Santa Casa de Campo Grande faces crisis amid supply shortages and unpaid salaries
The Santa Casa de Campo Grande is facing a severe operational crisis characterized by depleted medical supplies and a shortage of medical staff due to four months of unpaid salaries. This situation has forced the hospital to suspend elective surgeries and outpatient services, prioritizing only urgent and emergency cases. Notably, the institution has had to close its pediatric cardiac surgery unit, which previously served as a critical regional reference in Mato Grosso do Sul.
In response to the crisis, the Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau) and the State Health Secretariat (SES) have coordinated an emergency response. A R$ 4 million fund has been allocated to facilitate the immediate purchase of necessary medical supplies. Local health authorities are working to reorganize the healthcare network to mitigate the impact on patients relying on the Unified Health System (SUS).
