Santa Casa de Itabuna Ends Forró Beneficente Season for Oncology Upgrade

The Santa Casa de Itabuna in southern Bahia concluded the third edition of its Forró da Misericórdia charity festival on the weekend, marking the end of the June festivities. The event, held at the Terceira Via Hall, raised funds to refurbish the hospital’s oncology unit. Performers included patient‑musician Robertinho do Forró, singer Cris Mel, the band Lordão, and other local artists, with a tribute to Brazilian icons such as Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia and Gilberto Gil presented by a traditional quadrilha.

Hospital officials, including oncology coordinator Regiana Quinto, thanked participants, sponsors, political leaders and community members for their support, emphasizing the importance of the upgraded oncology services for patients throughout interior Bahia.
