Paulino Neves hosts simulated election to test voting systems

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Regional Electoral Court of Maranhão (TRE-MA) conducted a simulated election in Paulino Neves to prepare for the 2026 General Elections. The event aimed to test the efficiency, security, and speed of electronic voting machines, as well as to train poll workers and measure biometric identification times.

Approximately 1,398 voluntary participants, representing about 9.22% of the local electorate, took part in the simulation. The process was completed successfully, with the totalization of results taking only 14 minutes. The operation involved 24 polling stations across urban and rural areas and was monitored by technical experts and observers from the TSE.

TRE-MA President Maria Francisca Gualberto de Galiza stated that the simulation serves to strengthen democratic confidence by ensuring the transparency and auditability of the system. TSE President Kassio Nunes Marques also emphasized the importance of these tests in guaranteeing the sovereignty of the vote.
