Santa Catarina Court updates systems and processes judicial vacancy

The Court of Justice of Santa Catarina (TJSC) has implemented a temporary shutdown of judicial and administrative systems for an unscheduled update. As a result, judicial business hours were suspended starting at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21, with deadlines extended to Thursday, October 22. During this period, the court will operate under an on-call regime to ensure essential services, such as custody hearings, continue. Certain administrative and technology departments remain active to manage the transition.

Separately, the OAB of Santa Catarina has approved the registration of Renato Boabaid for a vacancy on the TJSC appellate court. Boabaid, a criminal lawyer and former substitute electoral judge, is among 17 lawyers competing for the seat via the Quinto Constitucional process. Public hearings are scheduled for November 12, followed by an online vote on November 30 to form a six-name list. This list will be narrowed to three by the TJSC before being sent to Governor Jorginho Mello for the final appointment.
