Santa Catarina exports grow 17.3% despite US trade decline

Exports from the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina grew by 17.3% in August, despite a 5% decline in shipments to the United States following the implementation of new American tariffs.

This growth was driven by significant increases in other markets. Pork exports to Japan nearly doubled, rising from US$ 29 million to US$ 56.5 million. Additionally, poultry sales to China reached US$ 29.7 million as Chinese buyers resumed purchases following the end of avian flu-related sanitary restrictions.

Economic analysts note that the state's ability to diversify its export destinations provides a buffer against external volatility and shifts in international trade policy.
