Santa Catarina motorcycle fraud case results in R$ 16.9 k damages

A man and a woman fabricated a story that a motorcycle belonged to a deceased niece to sell the vehicle in Barra Velha, Santa Catarina. The victim inspected the bike at the woman's home, was convinced by the false identity and the woman's confirmation, and transferred the purchase price. After the transfer, the woman refused to deliver the motorcycle and denied any connection to the seller, revealing the fraud.

The Santa Catarina court found both defendants jointly liable, ordering them to pay R$ 6.9 k in material damages and R$ 10 k in moral damages, totaling R$ 16.9 k. Neither defendant presented a defence, and the judgment is subject to appeal.
