Santa Catarina: Political agendas and water management updates

Various political and administrative developments are underway in Santa Catarina. CREA-SC has presented a strategic agenda to 2026 election candidates, focusing on technical proposals for infrastructure, sanitation, sustainability, and public management to guide long-term state development.

In the electoral sphere, gubernatorial candidate João Rodrigues held a campaign meeting in Lages with supporters and allies, emphasizing priorities in housing, education, and health. Meanwhile, Senate candidate Jeferson Rocha discussed his proposals during a televised interview, highlighting the need for agribusiness verticalization to transform the state from a grain exporter to a producer of finished products like biofuels.

On environmental governance, the Itapocu River Basin Management Committee celebrated its 25th anniversary with a general assembly. Discussions centered on water resource management challenges, an audit by the State Court of Accounts regarding water policy, and potential water usage conflicts in São Bento do Sul.
