Santa Catarina reports fatal accident and missing person recovery during elections

Several incidents occurred in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, during the election period. In Braço do Norte, 24-year-old Tatiane Fucks died following a motorcycle accident on the SC-370 highway while returning from voting. The accident involved a collision with a Nissan Kicks; the driver of the vehicle tested negative for alcohol.

In Caçador, the body of a 20-year-old woman who had been missing since late September was recovered from the Rio do Peixe by volunteer firefighters. Authorities stated there are currently no indications of criminal activity, and an investigation is ongoing.

Logistical and emergency efforts were also noted in the region. In Caçador, a Fire Department aircraft transported an electronic voting machine to the state capital for a public integrity audit. Additionally, Civil Defense teams worked to clear rural roads blocked by fallen trees and storm damage to ensure voters in the interior could access polling stations.
