Santa Catarina shines in Ilhabela sailing meet and state sports games

The 53rd Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela (July 24 – August 1) featured a strong contingent from Santa Catarina, with the Iate Clube de Santa Catarina entering multiple boats such as Catuana Kim (ORC), Neon III, and Zeus Team (C30). The participation underscored the state’s prominent role in Brazilian sailing, its nautical industry, and the event’s impact on local tourism and the broader ocean‑sport community.

During the 38th Joguinhos Abertos de Santa Catarina, athletes from Jaraguá do Sul earned 16 swimming medals (including two gold in the 4×100 m relays) and secured early qualifications in basketball, futsal and volleyball. The municipality fielded 292 competitors across 12 sports, highlighting its status as a leading contender in the statewide multi‑sport competition.
