Santa Catarina sports events advance with São Ludgero exit and women's U‑20 final dates

The São Ludgero men’s U‑18 futsal team ended its run in the state Jogos Abertos after a tight loss to Joinville, finishing among the 14 best squads in Santa Catarina. Coach Matheus Locks praised the squad’s effort against the professional‑level opponent but noted missed chances early in the tournament. Despite the futsal exit, São Ludgero will continue competing in other disciplines, including taekwondo, athletics and bocha, at the ongoing Games.

The Federação Catarinense de Futebol released the schedule for the 2024 Copa Santa Catarina Feminina Sub‑20 final. Meninas de Jaraguá and current champions Criciúma will meet in a two‑leg showdown, with the first match on 8 August at the Montanha stadium in Nova Veneza and the return leg on 22 August at the Eurico Duwe stadium in Jaraguá do Sul. Jaraguá entered the final with the best group‑stage record (13 points, 27 goals scored), while Criciúma finished second with 12 points.
