Santa Catarina unveils $120 million Forquilhinha automotive park and upgrades Beto Carrero coaster

The municipality of Forquilhinha in southern Santa Catarina announced that construction of a R$120 million automotive park will begin this year. The 20‑hectare complex will include a kartodrome, a drag‑strip, commercial spaces and an automobile museum, financed by private investors. Mayor José Cláudio Gonçalves said the park will be the largest of its kind in the state and a major boost for local tourism.

Beto Carrero World’s flagship roller coaster, Fire Whip, is set to reopen on 3 September after a R$24 million refurbishment. All 502 metres of track were replaced, magnetic brakes and a new Dutch‑made automation platform were installed, and 194 tonnes of equipment were added. CEO Alex Murad described the ride as “practically a new toy,” noting a smoother, less‑vibrating experience for visitors.
