Santa Catarina workplace accidents result in death and injuries

Two separate workplace accidents occurred in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries.

In Camboriú, a worker named João Valmir Dias died after a material transport elevator fell approximately eight meters. The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, is suspected to have been caused by a snapped steel cable. A second worker sustained multiple fractures and was transported to Hospital Marieta Konder Bornhausen in Itajaí.

In Florianópolis, a worker was injured after falling from a crane on the SC-405 highway. The victim suffered an exposed fracture in a lower limb and signs of traumatic brain injury. Due to the severity of the injuries, the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department utilized the Arcanjo/Águia aerial support to transport the patient to a specialized hospital unit.
