Santa Clara defeats Stanford in preseason basketball exhibition
Santa Clara defeated Stanford 83-78 in a preseason men's basketball exhibition game. Despite a strong performance from freshman Julius Price, who scored 26 points in his debut, the Cardinal could not maintain their lead in the closing minutes.
Stanford initially struggled, trailing by as many as 11 points in the first half. However, they rallied to a 37-32 deficit at halftime and later built a seven-point lead with 6:52 remaining in the second half. The comeback was fueled by frequent trips to the free-throw line, where Stanford went 23-for-25 in the final period.
Santa Clara ultimately secured the win by outscoring Stanford 21-9 during a late run, punctuated by a three-pointer on the Broncos' final possession. Stanford's regular season is scheduled to begin on November 2 against Eastern Washington.
