Santa Clara del Cobre celebrates 60th National Copper Fair
The town of Santa Clara del Cobre in Michoacán is celebrating the 60th edition of its National Copper Fair from August 8 to 16. This traditional festival highlights the heritage of local artisans specializing in hammered copper.
The event features the LXXXI National Hammered Copper Contest, which offers a total prize pool of 440,000 pesos distributed across 63 awards for master artisans and new talent. The festival includes a diverse cultural and musical program with free concerts by various artists.
Authorities estimate the fair will attract 130,000 visitors, generating an estimated economic impact of 32 million pesos and benefiting approximately 35,000 people involved in tourism, commerce, and artisanal activities.
