Santa Clara men's soccer wins season opener 2-1 over Cleveland State
Santa Clara men's soccer opened its season with a 2-1 victory over Cleveland State at Stevens Stadium in California. After a scoreless first half, Santa Clara took the lead in the 46th minute when Josmar Guandique scored his first career goal, assisted by Diego Jalleau.
Cleveland State equalized in the 55th minute through a header by Domenic Ruggiero, following assists from Bora Eldem and Tom Mertz. However, Gabrielius Mazonas secured the win for the Broncos in the 83rd minute with an assist from Will Wiersdorf.
