Santa Clara women's soccer defeats Pacific 2-1
Santa Clara women's soccer defeated Pacific 2-1 on Wednesday at Stevens Stadium to maintain a perfect record in West Coast Conference play. Despite being outshot 22-3, Pacific held the Broncos to a scoreless first half.
Kennedy Schoennauer opened the scoring for Santa Clara in the 57th minute, marking her 11th goal of the season. Jacey Martinez extended the lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute following a corner kick. Pacific's Kaya Rosa scored in the 89th minute to narrow the deficit, marking Pacific's first road goal against Santa Clara since rejoining the conference in 2013.
Pacific goalkeeper Ava Wells recorded seven saves during the match to keep the Tigers competitive. Santa Clara moves to 3-0 in WCC action and will next face LMU in Los Angeles.
