Santa Cruz accounts for 30% of Bolivia's GDP
The Santa Cruz Institute of Statistics (ICE) has released the ‘Santa Cruz Estadístico 2026’ report, providing a comprehensive overview of the economic, social, and demographic status of Bolivia’s most populous department.
Key findings indicate that Santa Cruz contributes approximately 30% of Bolivia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with a departmental economy exceeding 17 billion bolivianos. The region is a critical driver for the national economy, accounting for nearly 75% of the country’s agricultural and livestock production.
The report also includes vital social indicators regarding health, education, housing, and basic services to assist in public planning and decision-making. ICE Director Juan Pablo Suárez noted that the publication centralizes previously dispersed data into a single tool for the population and researchers.
