Santa Cruz authorities investigate man found shot dead with threatening sign

Authorities in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, are investigating the death of a man found with multiple gunshot wounds in the Cordón Ecológico area near the Piraí River. The victim, estimated to be between 35 and 45 years old, was discovered by neighbors on a dirt road.

Preliminary reports indicate the man sustained at least five entry wounds and two exit wounds to the head. Investigators noted that the victim was not carrying identification documents, and it is suspected he may have been transported to the location in a vehicle.

A sign containing a message was found near the body. While social media reports suggested the message was directed at Peter Maldonado, the Vice Minister of Interior and Police, Homicide Prosecutor Rossemary Barrientos stated that the authenticity and relevance of the message are still being investigated to determine the motive behind the killing.
