Santa Cruz Civil Protection reports successful 2026 Winter Plan

Sandra Gordillo, the Undersecretary of Civil Protection for Santa Cruz, provided a positive assessment of the 2026 Winter Plan. She highlighted the effective coordination between provincial, national, and municipal agencies, including the Provincial Road Department, Police, National Road Department, and Gendarmerie.

During the period of low temperatures, authorities managed various contingencies, including rescue operations and assistance in towns like Gobernador Gregores and Perito Moreno, where extreme cold caused water to freeze in several sectors. Gordillo noted that public awareness and early recommendations helped mitigate major issues.

To improve future responses, the agency is focusing on strengthening operational capacity through new equipment, staff training, and the expansion of radio communication networks across the province.
