Santa Cruz coordinates provincial response to Las Heras snowfall

Deputy Javier Jara of Las Heras requested a report from the Provincial Agrarian Council to assess measures being taken to assist producers and protect livestock amid severe winter conditions that have hit the north‑west of Santa Cruz Province. He emphasized the need for updated information on preventive actions, assistance operations, and contingency plans to mitigate the impact of low temperatures, snow and extreme weather on sheep farming and rural households.

In response, the Santa Cruz provincial government launched a coordinated operation involving the Ministry of Development Social, Equality and Integration, the State‑run Public Services Company, the Provincial Road Authority and Distrigas S.A. The effort included snow clearing on streets and access routes, distribution of firewood and food parcels to families in need, and maintenance of essential services. The joint action aims to ensure safe circulation, support vulnerable residents and safeguard agricultural production during the ongoing snowstorm.
