Santa Cruz de La Palma to launch equine wellness program for students
The Santa Cruz de La Palma City Council has announced an equine-based health and wellness project for students of the Aulas Enclave at the Alonso Pérez Díaz and Luis Cobiella Cuevas institutes. Scheduled for the 2026/2027 school year, the initiative involves guided educational and recreational sessions lasting approximately ninety minutes.
Hosted at the Sociedad Hípica La Palma Miranda, the sessions will be led by school monitors and an equestrian instructor. The project has been allocated 2,730 euros. The program aims to foster personal and social development, including autonomy, responsibility, self-esteem, social skills, body control, and emotional regulation through direct contact with horses and their care.
Mayor Asier Antona emphasized the importance of providing students with motivating, practical environments to discover their capabilities and build confidence. He noted that maintaining such initiatives over time allows students to consolidate learning and progressively take on new responsibilities.
