Santa Cruz de Tenerife publishes Low Emission Zone regulation

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has officially published the regulation for the Low Emission Zone (ZBE) in the Provincial Official Gazette (BOP), marking the completion of the legislative process.

While the regulation is now finalized, traffic restrictions and sanctions will not be implemented immediately. Following a 15-day legal period after publication, an 18-month informative phase will begin. During this period, the ZBE will serve only to provide information to the public, and no fines or circulation restrictions will be enforced.

The city administration intends to use this 18-month window to conduct awareness campaigns and educational measures. This approach aims to help citizens adapt to the new mobility model and understand the specific conditions and exceptions of the regulation before the restrictive measures enter their effective application phase.
