Santa Cruz de Tenerife reopens La Rosa street after three-year works

The municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has completed a major urban renewal project. After 36 months of construction, La Rosa street was reopened to traffic on a €6 million budget, partly funded by EU Next Generation funds. The overhaul added 650 m of widened sidewalks, 40 new trees, electric‑vehicle charging points, smart pedestrian crossings, fire‑hydrant networks, upgraded water, sewage and telecom infrastructure, and a new bus line 914 serving the El Toscal neighbourhood.

At the same time, the city began a short‑term resurfacing of Lope de Vega street, scheduled from 3 to 7 August with a budget of €83 179. Temporary diversions and provisional two‑way sections were put in place to minimise disruption, and the local 902 bus route was adjusted. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted the projects as part of the "Impulso Urbano" plan, emphasizing the council’s commitment to safer, more sustainable streets for residents and businesses.
