Santa Cruz de Tenerife to invest in non-lethal weapons for Local Police

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has approved an investment of 95,345 euros to acquire 15 non-lethal electric weapons for the Local Police. These devices, known as Static Control Devices (DEC), are intended to enhance the officers' capacity to respond to complex interventions while ensuring a proportional response.

The equipment includes LED screens and an integrated image capture system that activates during use. This feature allows for the recording and documentation of interventions, providing digital evidence for subsequent verification and legal purposes.

The procurement covers the 15 devices, batteries, holsters, charging bases, evidence management systems, necessary software, and licenses. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez stated that this modernization will provide officers with more adequate tools for complex situations, reinforcing safety for both the police and the citizenry.
