Santa Cruz de Tenerife to renew Islas Canarias Avenue asphalt

Santa Cruz de Tenerife will begin an asphalt renewal project on Islas Canarias Avenue starting Monday, August 10. The project, costing approximately €269,110.77, is expected to last until August 31.

The roadworks will be executed in seven phases, targeting the two uphill lanes adjacent to the tram platform between Rambla de Santa Cruz and Avenida de Venezuela. The works involve the demolition of 9,164 square meters of surface and the application of 1,319 tonnes of asphalt mix. During the phases, there will be full traffic closures and parking prohibitions in the affected areas, although the council intends to keep one lane open where possible.

Traffic will be diverted through alternative routes, including Avenida de La Asunción and Avenida de Bélgica, while Calle Salamanca will be closed during the first phase. Public transport will also face disruptions; specifically, TITSA's Line 904 will follow a diverted route toward Cuesta Piedra from 07:30 on Monday until 07:30 on Wednesday, resulting in the cancellation of stops at Álvarez de Lugo, Rambla Pulido, and Salamanca.
