Santa Cruz de Tenerife updates waste management tax bonuses

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has updated its municipal waste management tax regulations to align with Spain’s Law 7/2022 on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy. The new ordinance introduces and expands various tax bonuses to account for different family, property, and economic circumstances.

Key updates include new reductions for unoccupied dwellings, properties without economic activity, and incentives for the recycling of organic matter. The council also maintains existing bonuses, such as those based on the distance of a residence to waste containers. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez stated that the regulation aims to promote behaviors that contribute to better waste management while addressing specific social and economic situations.
