Santa Cruz deputies debate new electoral code and laws

The Chamber of Deputies of Santa Cruz is conducting intensive legislative work through various commissions to address provincial issues. Key areas of focus include education, public works, social development, labor, and natural resources.

In the Extraordinary Commission of Constitutional Affairs, legislators are working toward a unified text for a new provincial Electoral Code. This initiative aims to consolidate various existing projects into a single framework to clarify rules for upcoming electoral processes. Discussions include the potential incorporation of the ‘Ficha Limpia’ (Clean Slate) law into the Electoral Code and addressing questions regarding the scope of the PASO (Simultaneous and Mandatory Open Primaries) for mayors, deputies, and councilors.

Deputy Mario Piero Boffi noted that the current draft is a base structure subject to further modifications and will remain in commission for in-depth debate. The next extraordinary meeting for this commission is scheduled for September 9.
