Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo highway access closed after cargo spill
An access ramp connecting the Rodovia Presidente Castello Branco (SP-280) to the SP-225 was closed in Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, São Paulo, after cargo fell from a truck onto the roadway.
The incident occurred near km 298 during the early hours of Saturday. The spilled substances created a mixture described as a type of ‘instant glue’. According to the State Transport Agency (Artesp), the cargo detached from the vehicle for reasons still under investigation.
Environmental teams and the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (Cetesb) were called to the scene. The concessionaire, CART, coordinated with the transport company to deploy a cleaning crew and a specialized environmental services firm. No victims were reported, but the ramp and several highway lanes remained blocked for cleaning and emergency response.
