Santa Cruz economic report highlights 30% of Bolivia's GDP

The Instituto Cruceño de Estadística (ICE) has released the “Santa Cruz Estadístico 2026” bulletin, providing updated data on the economic, social, and environmental indicators of the Santa Cruz department in Bolivia.

Key findings indicate that Santa Cruz contributes approximately 30% to Bolivia's national GDP, with a departmental economy exceeding 17 billion bolivianos. The region also accounts for nearly 75% of the country's agricultural production.

Environmental data shows a significant reduction in land affected by fires, dropping from approximately 8.74 million hectares in 2024 to 347,000 hectares in 2025, a decrease of nearly 96%. Additionally, the 2024 Population and Housing Census recorded an illiteracy rate of 2.4% in the department.
