Mexico Bienestar programs to reach 42.8 million people by 2026

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the Bienestar programs serve as direct support for both citizens and the national economy. By the end of 2026, these social programs are projected to reach 42.8 million people with a total social investment of one trillion pesos.

Key components of these transfers include the Senior Citizen Pension, which benefits 13.7 million people, the Disability Pension for 2 million individuals, and the Women's Bienestar Pension for 2.8 million women. Data from the Banco del Bienestar indicates that between September 2025 and June 2026, the bank dispersed 713.37 billion pesos across 22 social programs.

Approximately 67.5% of these federal social funds—totaling 481.88 billion pesos—were allocated to non-contributory pensions, specifically for seniors, people with disabilities, and women. Sheinbaum emphasized that these direct injections of capital are intended to increase consumption and drive economic development alongside public works and healthcare improvements.
