Santa Cruz installs Departmental Agrarian Commission

The Departmental Agrarian Commission (CAD) has been officially installed in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. During its first session, authorities, producers, and social organizations reached a consensus to approve the commission's internal operating regulations.

Governor Juan Pablo Velasco described the event as a historic milestone, noting it is the first time such a commission has been established with legal legitimacy in the country. The CAD aims to provide Santa Cruz with a solid legal position to participate in defining land policies, territorial planning, and productive development.

Vice-governor Paola Aguirre stated that the commission will address critical issues, including land invasions (avasallamientos) and legal security for production. She criticized past practices by the National Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA), alleging that land titles were previously issued without following all regulations or obtaining certification from the regional government. The commission is expected to resume debates regarding land policy within the next 45 days.
