Santa Cruz launches diesel importation strategy to ensure fuel supply

The Governor of Santa Cruz, Juan Pablo Velasco, has launched a new strategy to address diesel shortages in the department through international imports. The initiative begins this week with the arrival of approximately 100 fuel tankers, with plans to progressively increase this volume to meet the department's total demand of roughly 700 tankers.

The Governor clarified that the Santa Cruz Government will not directly import, market, or sell the fuel. Instead, the administration will act as an intermediary, facilitating connections between a new international provider and legally established local importers and distributors.

To support the productive sector, a digital platform will be launched allowing producers to request diesel in quantities starting from 20,000 liters, which can be transported directly to their production units. The goal is to ensure that fuel availability does not hinder harvesting and agricultural activities, addressing the supply issues that have affected Bolivia throughout 2026.
