Santa Cruz officials address labor safety at Cerro Negro mine

Javier Aravena, the Secretary of Labor and Social Security for Santa Cruz, has detailed government actions regarding labor conditions and safety inspections at the Cerro Negro mine. Following inspections by the Ministry of Labor, a seven-hour working meeting was held involving representatives from Newmont, provincial executives, and labor unions.

The discussions focused on implementing necessary modifications to address safety and hygiene observations, labor relations, and the reactivation of Safety Committee meetings. Aravena emphasized that the provincial government, under Governor Claudio Vidal, is prioritizing worker protection and the enforcement of labor regulations to ensure “more and better work for the people of Santa Cruz.”
