Santa Cruz pension fund faces controversy over compulsory retirements

Controversy has erupted in Santa Cruz regarding the approval of 27 compulsory retirements by the Caja de Previsión Social. Officials have denounced irregularities in the process, noting that an extraordinary session was convened via text message without a clear agenda.

Cristian Sánchez, the representative for active workers, stated that 27 individuals were processed for retirement without prior notification, including three judges from the Tribunal Superior de Justicia: René Fernández, Alicia de los Ángeles Mercau, and Paula Ludueña Campos. Sánchez suggested these measures may be intended to weaken the organization to facilitate pension reform.

Viviana Carabajal, a representative for retirees, highlighted the emotional and professional distress caused by these forced retirements. Workers have reported feeling betrayed and undervalued, describing the sudden loss of employment after decades of service as a significant blow to their stability and dignity.
