Santa Cruz police retirees initiate legal action over unpaid salary bonuses

Retired and pensioned police officers in Santa Cruz have announced they will initiate administrative litigation before the Superior Court of Justice. The legal action seeks to recover a salary bonus that is currently paid to active-duty officers but has been denied to retirees.

Fabián Varela, a spokesperson for the retirees currently protesting in front of the Police Headquarters, stated that administrative avenues through the Caja de Previsión Social (CPS) have been exhausted. Varela noted that while the legal counsel and president of the CPS have acknowledged the claim is correct, the provincial government has maintained a political decision to withhold the payments.

The protesters claim the government is ignoring clear salary and mobility laws to justify the exclusion of retirees from these benefits.
