Santa Cruz seeks to expand hake processing in Puerto Deseado

The Santa Cruz provincial government is seeking to implement the unloading and processing of fresh hake in Puerto Deseado. This initiative aims to sustain fishing activity and local employment during the gap between the end of the shrimp season and the start of the squid season.

Production Minister Nadia Ricci stated that while the resource is available and companies have expressed interest in bringing vessels to the port, the final implementation depends on agreements between companies and workers. The Ministry of Labor is prepared to intervene in negotiations to formalize any reached agreements.
