Santa Cruz technical students undergo professional training
More than 2,200 secondary school students in Santa Cruz are participating in professional training programs through 170 active agreements between technical schools and the regional productive sector. The program benefits 1,308 fifth-year students and 897 sixth-year students, allowing them to complete their training in real-world work environments within companies and public organizations.
The training includes a mandatory 200-hour workload: 80 hours during the fifth year and 120 hours during the sixth year. These sessions combine specific curricular content with practical skills such as operational organization, safety, hygiene, and contingency resolution.
Norma Gatica, the provincial director of Technical Professional Education, stated that these experiences are planned and evaluated pedagogical journeys designed to consolidate the academic and labor insertion of graduates. The technical programs are tailored to the productive profile of each locality, such as port sectors in Puerto Deseado, airport infrastructure in Caleta Olivia, and municipal or hospital services in Río Gallegos.
