Santa Dulce dos Pobres image destroyed in Salvador church

An image of Santa Dulce dos Pobres was destroyed in an act of vandalism at the Paróquia Jesus Cristo Ressuscitado in the Plataforma neighborhood of Salvador.

According to reports from the parish, an unidentified individual entered the temple around 3:00 PM on a Saturday. The person removed the statue from a side altar and moved it to the area between the Eucharistic table and the tabernacle, where the piece was broken into several fragments. The parish described the incident as a profanation, noting that the tabernacle is a site of high liturgical significance.

The church administration, led by Father Marcos Studart, is working with the Archdiocese of Salvador to clarify the circumstances of the destruction and identify the person responsible. The incident has caused significant distress among local parishioners and community members.
