Santa Elena students design mobility aid for the elderly

Seventh-year students from the Instituto Privado de Educación Técnica D-67 Fernando Torres Vilches in Santa Elena, La Paz, have designed and manufactured a specialized walker for elderly individuals. The device is a walking and standing aid that includes axillary and pelvic support.

Developed as part of their professional practices, the project allowed students to apply technical skills such as structural calculation, material resistance, welding, ergonomics, and technical drawing. The design process involved analyzing anthropometric measurements and conducting various testing and evaluation phases to ensure functionality.

Judith Trembecki, Director of Private Management Education at the Consejo General de Educación (CGE), noted that the project transformed a community obstacle into an opportunity for educational growth by linking technical learning with real-world needs.
