Santa Fe 2026 South American Games preparations accelerate

Preparations are accelerating for the XIII South American Games, to be held in the Argentine province of Santa Fe from September 12 to 26, 2026. The event will host over 4,000 athletes from 15 countries competing in 43 sports and 60 disciplines across the cities of Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela.

Infrastructure projects are nearing completion, with several works exceeding 90% or 95% progress. This includes the renovation of the athletic track at the Pedro Candioti High Performance Sports Center (CARD), which will feature a Mondo synthetic surface similar to that used in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Additionally, a new multi-purpose handball stadium is scheduled for inauguration in late August.

Symbolic activities have also commenced, including the arrival of the South American Torch from Bolivia. The flame is currently on a tour through all 19 departments of Santa Fe to promote the event. The games serve as a critical qualifying stage for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, with various disciplines offering slots to top performers.
