Santa Fe advances construction of new Puente Carretero

The construction of the new Puente Carretero, which will connect Santo Tomé with the city of Santa Fe, has reached 40% progress according to the provincial government. The project aims to reduce daily traffic congestion and improve metropolitan connectivity between the two cities.

The work is being carried out by a temporary union of companies including Lemiro Petroboni SA, SE. MI. SA, and Cocivial SA, with a total investment of $39,811 million funded entirely by the Santa Fe province. Construction began in March 2025, with the new 1,324-meter viaduct being built south and parallel to the existing bridge.

Technical progress includes the completion of 40 out of 42 planned pillars and the fabrication of 80 out of 215 projected beams. The new structure will feature two lanes heading toward Santa Fe, while the current bridge will be repurposed exclusively for traffic heading toward Santo Tomé. The project also includes bike lanes, new lighting, safety railings, and erosion protections. Completion is scheduled for late 2026.
