El Campín stadium violence disrupts Santa Fe and América de Cali match

Violence erupted during a football match between Independiente Santa Fe and América de Cali at El Campín stadium in Bogotá, forcing a temporary suspension of the game. The disturbances began around the 32nd minute when supporters clashed over a stolen flag, leading to physical fights in the stands and an invasion of the pitch by fans armed with sticks and other objects.

Police intervention, including the use of smoke bombs and tear gas, was required to regain control. The match eventually resumed and concluded in a 0-0 draw. The incidents left approximately 17 people injured, including district officials and emergency responders.

Bogotá Mayor Carlos Galán condemned the violence, stating that authorities would take measures to ensure such acts do not go unpunished. The events have reignited debates regarding stadium security protocols, access controls, and the need for better identification of violent supporters in Colombian football.
