Santa Fe child released after deadly Schneider neighbourhood fire

A 12‑year‑old boy, identified as Bautista, survived a residential fire that engulfed a home in the Schneider neighbourhood of Santa Fe, Argentina, while his 4‑year‑old brother León perished. After a favourable medical course at the Hospital de Niños Orlando Alassia, Bautista was discharged, having avoided respiratory injury and recovered from scalp wounds.

Authorities are now focusing on his psychological recovery, with a multidisciplinary team providing ongoing outpatient support. The provincial Subsecretariat of Childhood, Adolescence and Family is assessing his family environment to ensure appropriate protection. The Public Ministry continues its investigation to determine the fire’s origin.
