Santa Fe Council proposes preservation of historic bridge remains
The Santa Fe Municipal Council has approved a resolution requesting the municipal executive to initiate efforts to recover and preserve the remains of the historic “Ing. Marcial Candioti” suspension bridge. The bridge, which collapsed in 1983, is considered a significant piece of local historical and identity-based heritage.
The proposal, driven by council members Ignacio Laurenti and Carolina Capovilla, seeks coordination with the Santa Fe Provincial Ministry of Public Works and the Provincial Road Directorate. The initiative specifically targets remains located at the “El Remanso” camp in Manucho and those near the Port of Santa Fe.
Council members suggested evaluating the relocation of these remains to public spaces such as the area adjacent to the current bridge structure, the Port of Santa Fe, or the East Waterfront (Costanera Este) to ensure they are visible to the public and integrated harmoniously with the urban environment.
