Santa Fe deputy proposes bank choice for public employees

Fabián Palo Oliver, a deputy for the Frente Amplio Periférico, has introduced a bill in Santa Fe to allow public sector employees to choose their own banks for receiving salary payments. Currently, employees are required to use the state's financial agent, Nuevo Banco de Santa Fe.

The proposed law would apply to employees across the three branches of the provincial state, decentralized agencies, public companies, and social security institutions. Under the plan, new employees would have three months to select a bank from those authorized by Law 21.586. Existing employees would also have a three-month window to exercise this option once the law takes effect.

To ensure stability, the bill mandates a minimum two-year period for any chosen account before an employee can request another change. Additionally, the initiative includes a requirement for all new public administration employees to participate in a financial education program designed by the Ministry of Economy.
