Santa Fe hosts torch arrival for 2026 South American Games
The city of Santa Fe has begun the final countdown to the 2026 South American Games. Approximately 40,000 people gathered to witness the arrival of the South American Torch and the lighting of the Portal at the Costanera, an event featuring music and recreational activities.
Governor Maximiliano Pullaro and Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti led the festivities. Pullaro emphasized the long-term legacy of the Games, noting that infrastructure projects—including a new multipurpose stadium and improvements to the High Performance Sports Center—are progressing according to schedule.
The torch relay is scheduled to traverse 19 departments across the Santa Fe province throughout August and September. The city of Recreo is also set to host the torch, with community activities including eGames, virtual reality, and sports demonstrations planned to engage local residents.
