Santa Fe implements urban safety and traffic signaling plan

The Municipality of Santa Fe is implementing a comprehensive urban planning and road safety plan focused on signaling and demarcating pedestrian crossings. Supported by the Mobility Fund, the project has reached 50% completion of its original plan, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and vehicular visibility at key intersections.

The work has progressed from the southern sector and the historic district toward the north, with specific attention given to the Parque del Sur area ahead of the 2026 South American Games. In high-traffic commercial and gastronomic zones, such as San Jerónimo and 9 de Julio, work is scheduled exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays to minimize disruption to public transport and commerce.

Additionally, Mayor Norma Fuentes reported a 40% increase in signaled intersections, bringing the city's total to 226. The administration has also modernized existing traffic lights by replacing traditional lamps with LED technology to improve efficiency and visibility. New installations, such as the intersection at Sáenz Peña and Paraná, utilize advanced controllers capable of supporting green wave synchronization.
