Santa Fe inflation reaches 1.8% in August

Inflation in the province of Santa Fe reached 1.8% in August, according to data from the Provincial Institute of Statistics and Censuses (IPEC). This figure is slightly higher than the national inflation rate of 1.7% reported by INDEC.

Year-to-date inflation for the province has accumulated to 21.6%, with an annual increase of 34.2%. The monthly rise was driven primarily by 'Other goods and services' (2.6%), healthcare expenses (2.5%), and housing and basic services (2.4%).

Within the food and beverage sector, which saw a 1.9% average increase, specific items experienced significant price hikes. Onions rose by 38.5%, bananas by 38.1%, and potatoes by 27%. Other notable increases included cooked ham (5.2%), ground coffee (4.4%), and white rice (4.2%). Conversely, some sectors saw price drops, such as round tomatoes (22.9%), lettuce (14.8%), and wine (1.9%).
